the magic begins ϟ funniest moment
ferret draco; “I don’t like people who attack when their opponent’s back’s turned,” growled Moody as the ferret bounced higher and higher, squealing in pain. “Stinking, cowardly, scummy thing to do. …”
The ferret flew through the air, its legs and tail flailing helplessly.
“Never — do — that — again —” said Moody, speaking each word as the ferret hit the stone floor and bounced upward again.
“Professor Moody!” said a shocked voice.
Professor McGonagall was coming down the marble staircase with her arms full of books.
“Hello, Professor McGonagall,” said Moody calmly, bouncing the ferret still higher.
“What — what are you doing?” said Professor McGonagall, her eyes following the bouncing ferret’s progress through the air.
“Teaching,” said Moody.
“Teach — Moody, is that a student?” shrieked Professor McGonagall, the books spilling out of her arms.
“Yep,” said Moody.
“No!” cried Professor McGonagall, running down the stairs and pulling out her wand; a moment later, with a loud snapping noise, Draco Malfoy had reappeared, lying in a heap on the floor with his sleek blond hair all over his now brilliantly pink face. He got to his feet, wincing.
“Moody, we never use Transfiguration as a punishment!” said Professor McGonagall weakly. “Surely Professor Dumbledore told you that?”
“He might’ve mentioned it, yeah,” said Moody, scratching his chin unconcernedly, “but I thought a good sharp shock —”
“We give detentions, Moody! Or speak to the offender’s Head of House!”
“I’ll do that, then,” said Moody, staring at Malfoy with great dislike.
omg, i'm sorry if i offended you. seriously and honestly, i didn't mean to hint that at you, it's just that when you were talking about him in that other ask you said "he was a dick to Weasley with no reason" and I just assumed, so I'm sorry. And I totally respect your opinion because you had an amazing rebuttal unlike most people who hate him just because Harry hated him. So again, my sincere apologies for offending you or anything.
Thank you! I was kinda thrown off at that part because you’d been so mature about your opinion before that so I appreciate this. XDD But when I said “no reason” I meant Ron and Ginny hadn’t personally given him reason. I see where the confusion is because believing they deserve that treatment IS a reason. It just isn’t a good excuse. Thanks again though!
But, (concerning Draco Malfoy), wouldn’t he be the exception to the “no excuse for bullying rule”? I mean, just think of where he grew up. His father was a Death Eater and a Pureblood maniac, basically. His parents ingrained it into his brain, probably from the moment he could talk, that mudbloods were below him, that Purebloods were the highest (especially Malfoys), and that muggles were scum. And obviously, before Hogwarts, he probably wasn’t exposed to anything muggle, he never had a chance to learn any different, his parents were only exposing him to Pureblood society. He grew up in a horribly prejudiced family. Also, concerning his mission to kill Dumbledore? Did he really seem to want to do it to you? Or was it another mess made by circumstance? And I know everyone’s saying “he had a choice, he could have chosen not to do it”. Well, alright, he could choose not to do it and get his family killed, because no matter how messed up they were he still cared. Draco Malfoy was a mess that circumstance made, a character that I think deserves redemption. So, yeah. I guess you should keep this in mind before you say you hate him, I mean, you don’t have to like him but, hate’s a really strong word.
While I do respect your argument and understand where it is you’re coming from, that simply isn’t an excuse for me. Not an acceptable one anyways and keep in mind this is just purely my own opinion. I do know how hard it is to break away from beliefs you’ve been raised to believe in but since when do you have to? In the very same series you see people fighting their own families on things they were meant to believe. People like Sirius and etc. I’m not saying it’s an easy thing to do and I love that Rowling chose to develop the character the way she did. The things he did wouldn’t have had he same impact if he wasn’t that sort of a person but believing what you’re told and taught to believe whether you think it the right thing or not isn’t a reason to treat people that way. As for killing Dumbledore I think he honestly believed he could in the start and even if there are threats on your life and the ones you love, is there ever an excuse to even consider taking another man’s life into your own hands? I don’t think so. I envy those who honestly believe life is so cut and dry as kill or be killed but the truth is there are way more options. Being protected by the people who were protecting everyone else, for one. Finally…on the subject of hate it IS a strong word and it isn’t misplaced for me. And you had my respect up until that comment. To think I haven’t thought it all through before stating my opinion on the matter and choosing such a strong word, as you put it, is ignorant. I have kept all of that in mind, as made obvious by my rebuttal. Those excuses simply aren’t good enough for me. I hate bullies therefore I hate him. I wouldn’t expect or even try to change anyone else’s opinion on the character nor would I suggest they haven’t considered both sides like you hinted at with me. So I appreciate your side and you can have it but I kindly disagree.
WHY DO YOU HATE DRACO??? who's your fav HP character?
Because he is a bully and I hate bullies. There’s never an excuse for it ever. Was it cool that he did stuff that ended up being good? Totally. Does that change the fact that he was a dick to the Weasley with no reason? At least with the Marauders, it was Snape loving dark arts. That being said, I hated them for bullying as well. No excuse. I just don’t think Draco is a good person. A couple good deeds in the light of a hundred bad ones doesn’t change who you are or that you put your lot in with a bunch of murderer’s and considered offing a beloved hero. I don’t get the fascination with him beyond the change to bravery and his show od strength and no one has changed my mind so far. You can try though?
As far as favorite characters go, mine has been and will always be Hagrid. NO ONE has a bigger heart than him. He is my everything. X333

Two points to make. 1. Draco gets more support than a good chunk of the other characters in the books. He is DEFINITELY not lacking in it.
2. Trying to impress somebody is not an excuse to be a bully or consider murder.
